Es gibt ihn in den verschiedensten Ausführungen. Mir schmeckt er seit der Kindheit. Der Salat. Dieses Gemüse ist mit einigen Tipps und Tricks ganz leicht selbst im Garten aufzuziehen.

Standort und Boden: Der Salat gedeiht auf jedem Gartenboden. Vor der Aussaat sollte der Boden gelockert werden. Empfehlenswert ist es, das Beet mit etwas Kompost anzureichern, damit er noch besser wachsen kann. Der Standort im Frühjahr sollte möglichst sonnig sein. Im Hochsommer mag es der Salat aber lieber etwas schattiges.

Aussaat: Da die Samen des Salates sehr klein sind, darf der Samen nur mit einer dünnen Schicht an Erde bedeckt werden. Wenn du bereits im Frühjahr Salat ernten möchtest, kannst du je nach Wetter bereits Anfang April/Ende April die Samen in ein Beet säen.

Es ist aber auch möglich, den Salat vorzuziehen. So ist er robuster gegenüber den Wetterverhältnissen, welche vor allem im April noch sehr wechselhaft sein können.

Damit Setzlinge entstehen, kannst du in einem Töpfchen mit etwas Abstand, ca. 5cm Samen aussäen und in der Wärme ziehen. Wenn sich schliesslich mehrere Pflanzen bilden, kannst du bei Bedarf noch etwas ausdünnen und schliesslich den Setzling in den Boden pflanzen.

Setzling können bereits auch vorgezogen gekauft werden.

Pflege: Da der Salat zu einem grossen Teil aus Wasser besteht, muss dieser vor allem in Trockenperioden regelmässig gegossen werden. Ansonsten werden die Blätter hart und das Wachstum langsam. Zum giessen sollte das Wasser möglichst nicht über die Köpfe gegossen werden, sondern auf die Erde. Denn vor allem an der prallen Sonne kann es anschliessend zu Verbrennungen kommen.
