Diese schönen Frühlingsboten im eigenen Garten bestaunen? Ganz einfach!
Frost: The forest does not mind a tulip bulb in the garden bed. They do not need winter protection in the bed. Once the tulips are in the pot, they can be covered with fleece, since the "insulation" provided by soil is less good.
I also planted some of my tulips in pots and tried not to use fleece or anything similar. They are also blooming beautifully this year.
Watering the tulips: If you have planted the tulips in pots, the tulips should be watered regularly. But not too much to avoid waterlogging. It is important that the pot has a hole at the bottom so that the water can drain.
Fertilize tulips: Tulips are best fertilized in autumn. Garden compost should be used sparingly.
But the tulip can also be used in spring with a little mineral fertilizer (careful with the dosage).
Tulips as cut flowers: Tulips should be cut slightly at an angle or straight with a sharp knife. Never use shears that will bruise the stems, affecting water and nutrient uptake.
How much water does a tulip need in a vase? Always place tulips in 2-3 cm of water. Tulips do not like too much water in a vase, just as they do in nature. If there is more than 2-3 cm of water, the tulips will draw too much water, which will make the tulip's head droop more quickly.
