Origin: The garden hyacinths originally come from the lily family. In the natural space you can still find the flowers in the Mediterranean.
Character: The flowers are between 15-30 cm high and have many blossoms. The growing season of flowers is short.
Location: The hyacinths like a sunny and warm place in the garden. The flowers also thrive in pots on the balcony or terrace.
Colours: From white to pink to blue, yellow or red. The flower shines in almost every color in the garden.
Soil: The flower likes an airy, mineral soil. The soil should be loosened well before planting. In principle, however, it also thrives in nutrient-rich soil.
Plants: The hyacinth comes as a bulb, like a tulip for example.
Before planting, loosen the soil well and finally dig a hole about 10 cm deep and put the onion in it. When planting, you should keep a distance of about 15 cm between each bulb. Since the flowering splendor of the flower should not be underestimated.
As with the tulip, you should plant the bulb in late October/early November.
Care: Regular watering is important during dry periods. This allows the onion flower to produce enough nutrients.
Withered flowers should be cut off before seed formation.
And when the first hyacinths thrive in the garden. Take a deep breath of the wonderful scent of the flower! But: Never eat, as the flower is considered poisonous.
