Achtung: Auf Google Maps sind die Zeiten eher knapp berechnet. Die Neuseeländischen Highways sind oft kurvig und gehen hoch und runter, was nicht erlaubt 100 km/h zu fahren. Rechne also genügend Zeit ein.
Einen Ausflug auf jeden Fall wert.
Walking: Around the Cape you can park your car in a few spots and take a walk along the gravel road very close to the shore.
View of an almost kitschy white red lighthouse, beautiful hills and the sea.
With a bit of luck you will also see seals at Cape Palliser. The coast is home to the largest fur seal colony on New Zealand's North Island. The seals have pointed noses, long whiskers and pricked ears. They breed from mid-November to mid-January. But beware: always keep enough distance to the seals.
Watching them sunbathe and play, beautiful. You won't get bored.
A steep staircase with a few hundred steps (250) leads to the lighthouse. The workout for the day is already done.
Parking: Free around the Cape. Like almost everywhere in New Zealand.
Definitely worth a trip.
