Mirror Lake Walk (NZ)
Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? The Mirror Lakes definitely reflect the Earl Mountains in Fiordland National Park in splendor!
Difficulty level: very easy
Duration: 10 minutes/400 m
Equipment: light shoes enough, rain jacket!!!
Accessibility: You can drive from Te Anau to the Mirror Lakes in about an hour (56km). Rental cars are worth their weight in gold in New Zealand. Outside of large cities, there is hardly any public transport.
Parking: There are free parking spaces right at the starting point.
Walk: Mirror Lakes make a great stopover when driving to Milford Sounds. We left early in the morning and made a stop at Mirror Lakes at sunrise. The colors in the picture are real. Completely without filters.
The walk is short, over a wooden footbridge equipped with a handrail. Great for kids too. Dogs are not allowed on the route.
Equipment: Always take a rain jacket with you. Fiordland is known for having one of the highest levels of rainfall in the world. The weather can change suddenly.
Conclusion: Definitely make a short stopover.
