Forgotten World Highway (NZ)

Der Forgotten World Highway macht seinem Namen alle Ehre. Er führt von Taumarunui nach Stratford über die saftigsten neuseeländischen Hügel auf und ab, wie ein Schweizerpass. Nur die Straßen sind teils sehr eng und teils sind einfach Schotter Abschnitte vorhanden. Hier ist es wichtig, dass ihr genügend Zeit einrechnet. Denn mit 100 km/h kannst du diesen Abschnitt (ca. 150km) nicht passieren.

Tipp: Plane deinen Trip im Voraus gut. Denn auf dem Forgotten World Highway sind auf vielen Abschnitten große Funklöcher. Und wenn du mal etwas empfang hast, dann nur sehr wenig.

Übernachten: Es gibt ein AirBnB, das sehr abgelegen ist. In Tahora. Eine riesige, ausgebaute Scheune steht dir zur Verfügung. Aber auch dort hast du kein Wlan, nur bei der Gastgeberin selbst. Als wir dort spät abends angekommen sind, waren wir etwas verängstigt. Es war aber ein toller Aufenthalt.

Aussicht: Auf viele Schafe, tolle unreale Hügel, Regenwald gemischt mit normalem Wald. Einfach nur wunderschön. Eine Fahrt auf jeden Fall wert.

Forgotten World Highway The Forgotten World Highway lives up to its name. It climbs up and down New Zealand's juiciest hills from Taumarunui to Stratford like a Swiss passport. And if you have received something, then only very little. Where to stay: There is an AirBnB that is very remote. In Tahora. A huge, converted barn is at your disposal. But you don't have WiFi there either, only with the hostess herself. When we got there late in the evening, we were a bit scared. But it was a great stay. View: Lots of sheep, great unreal hills, rain forest mixed with normal forest. Just beautiful. Definitely worth a drive.
